Problem Statement
A "letter " erected at point of the -axis in the -plane is the union of a segment in the upper half-plane perpendicular to the -axis and a segment containing in its interior and parallel to the -axis. Show that it is impossible to erect a letter at every point of the -axis so that the union of those erected at rational points is disjoint from the union of those erected at irrational points.
